Letter from Alice to Salloum Mokarzel
Title
Letter from Alice to Salloum Mokarzel
Description
A letter from Alice to her father, Salloum Mokarzel, written in Beirut, Greater Syria (modern-day Lebanon). In this letter, dated December 19, 1925, Alice wishes her father a peaceful and quiet holiday season. It doesn't seem like Christmas without him, but she tells him they will try to enjoy themselves as best as they can. Last Sunday was Mother's Day, and Alice reminisces about the last Mother's Day she spent with her entire family in the states. Marie Kassab's sister from the states, Adele Kassab, asked Yemna to share the story about her family's last Mother's Day. Yemna described how Salloum took the girls and their mother out to the country, bought them flowers, and a box of candy. Alice ends by explaining that once she starts oil painting, she will be sure to send her father her first painting.
