Letter from Alice to Salloum Mokarzel

Title

Letter from Alice to Salloum Mokarzel

Description

A letter from Alice to her father, Salloum Mokarzel, written in Beirut, Greater Syria (modern-day Lebanon). In this letter, dated February 6, 1926, Alice mentions again how she is anxiously awaiting a letter from her father, and it is clear that she had not yet received Salloum's letter dated February 4, 1926. Nevertheless, Alice goes on to describe an eventful Friday at school. Adele Kassab, Miss Marie Kassab's sister, took some girls that competed in an Arabic contest to a Nahr el-Kalb, a river that springs from Jeita Grotto. Because half of the girls were out, Miss Kassab decided to take the rest out for a picnic and then surprise the others at Nahr el-Kalb. Alice had a wonderful time as her day was filled with laughter, dancing, and singing.
