Subject
Description
A letter from Alice to her father Salloum Mokarzel, written in their mountain home in Machghara, Greater Syria (modern-day Lebanon). In this letter, dated August 26, 1925, Alice writes to her father after receiving his telegram and explains that her mother Helen has finally decided to enroll the girls in the Marie Kassab School. Helen also sent a telegram to the American school to send her the letters they have yet to receive from Salloum. A farewell party was thrown for a few of Alice's friends. Alice and her friends had a great deal of fun
they danced, ate, played games, and dressed in authentic all-silk Arab costumes from Beirut. Alice tells her father that she thinks she'll stay in Lebanon for more than two years so she can learn more of the wonderful French language. Alice ends by informing her father about their seriously ill Aunt Sophie.
