Title

Letter from Alice to Salloum Mokarzel August 19, 1925

Description

A letter from Alice to her father Salloum Mokarzel, written in their mountain home in Machghara, Greater Syria (modern-day Lebanon). In this letter, dated August 19, 1925, Alice explains that she and her sisters are looking to enroll in the Marie Kassab School, a non-religious Syrian school that teaches both French and English. Alice has decided she no longer wants to learn English because she knows enough
instead, she would like to learn French and Arabic. Helen, her mother, would like the girls to attend the same school, and while Alice seems to like the Marie Kassab School, Mary doesn't. Alice has a group of friends she enjoys spending time with, and one of her friends, Lily, wants to go to the same school as the girls.
