Description
A letter from Alice to her father Salloum Mokarzel, written in their mountain home in Machghara, Greater Syria (modern-day Lebanon). In this letter, dated September 7, 1925, Alice describes how happy she and her sisters, except Lila who is not yet literate, are to receive letters from their father. Alice shares a funny story about her mispronunciation in Arabic, writing in Arabic-English transliteration. She also tells him an interesting war story about their family friend in America, Nesib Trabulsi. Alice, her mother, Mary, and Rose will be traveling to Damascus the following week where they will stay in a hotel. Helen's relative works as a clerk in the hotel, and he will take them around the city.
