Description
A letter from Alice to her father Salloum Mokarzel, written in Beirut, Greater Syria (modern-day Lebanon). In this letter, dated September 21, 1925, Alice writes to her father now that she and her family have finally arrived to Beirut. On their way to Beirut, they passed many beautiful mountain towns and saw many Americans in these towns. Alice and her family are enjoying their time in Beirut as they have made new acquaintances. Alice is amazed by the differences of city-life in Beirut as compared to village-life in Machghara because, as she claims, there is much more to do in Beirut. Alice describes watching movies by the sea and having a great time reading, dancing, and socializing at Young Women's Christian Association. The girls will start school at the Marie Kassab School in October.
