Description
A letter from Alice to her father Salloum Mokarzel, written in Beirut, Greater Syria (modern-day Lebanon). In this letter, dated September 29, 1925, Alice and her family finally received Salloum's letter. Salloum misses his family dearly and his sadness moved the family to tears. Alice comforts her father by assuring him that, despite the distance between them, the family is grateful for all that he does for them. Although they miss him, they are happy and he should be, too. Salloum is also concerned about his family's safety in Beirut, in context of the Great Syrian Revolt. Alice assures her father not to worry because the news is often exaggerated but they are nevertheless safe. In addition, Salloum is not very pleased with the girls' school selection of the Marie Kassab School instead of the American school. Alice explains that the Marie Kassab School extends much farther in better education and better care of the students.
