Letter from Alice to Salloum Mokarzel

Title

Letter from Alice to Salloum Mokarzel

Description

A letter from Alice to her father, Salloum Mokarzel, written in Beirut, Greater Syria (modern-day Lebanon). In this letter, dated January 18, 1926, Alice tells her father about a concert they went to at the American University of Beirut. A famous Russian piano player in Greater Syria performed various compositions at the concert. Alice indicates that, in some ways, Lebanon is like America "when you get used to it." Despite her assumption that things would be cheaper, she notices that they are expensive and some things are even more expensive than in America. Alice is happy because she has received many letters from friends back home, but seems discouraged because she hasn't heard from her father in quite some time. She closes with hopes of receiving a letter from her father soon.
