An article in The Tampa Tribune, published in Tampa, Florida on November 30, 1919 "Negro Attacks White Woman Near Lake City And Forfeits His Life". An African American man, Sam Mosely, was hanged from a tree and his body riddled with bullets in Columbia County, Florida about ten miles south of Lake City after a white woman accused him of assault.
