George Kahdy Oral History conducted by Khayrallah Center Staff

This interview with George Kahdy recounted his life story, beginning with his birth in Lebanon in 1921 and his family's immigration to the United States through Ellis Island when he was eighteen months old. He described his childhood in Macon, Georgia, during the Great Depression, his family's perseverance, and the prejudice they faced as immigrants. He detailed his military service in the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he became a fighter pilot and gunnery instructor. After the war, he pursued a long and distinguished career in public education in North Carolina, rising from a teacher to a high school principal, and eventually to the Assistant State Superintendent.
