This interview with Michelle McDonald chronicles her life as an American of Lebanese descent. She discusses her upbringing in the Pacific Northwest and her ties to her Lebanese heritage. She also details her relationship with her maternal grandfather, who was a strong cultural force embraced by her entire family, including her German American grandmother and Irish American father. McDonald also describes the central role of food and family gatherings in maintaining her cultural identity.
