Description
Vol. 2 No. 8 of الفنون, Al-Funun, was published in January 1917. It contains short stories by Kahlil Gibran and Shabli Shumayyil, poetry by Amin Mushriq, Iliya Abu Madi, and Ni’mah al-Hajj, literary criticism by Mikhail Naimy, and a continuation of Ameen Rihani’s novella Zanbaqat al-Ghawr [The Lily of the Valley]. Mikhail Naimy’s play al-Aba’ wa-al-Banun [Fathers and Sons] is also continued. Authors whose works are translated in this issue include Ivan Turgenev and Nathaniel Hawthorne.
