E. Antone . Members present were Lawrence Ackels, Joseph Campbell, Ka.mil Eddie, Jr ., Mrs . Bobby Manziel, Charles McKool, Nesib Nader, Emile Reggie, Leo Todaro and Al Zwan - Absent were Fouad Helou and Nick Solomon. Ackels moved that Antone be elected chairman of the Board by acclamation ·- Seconded by Todaro - Reggie asked that the Secretary be instructed to cast a n unanimous vote for Antone as chainnan. Carried. Antone thanked the members . The secretary was instructed to get a bond in the amount of $20,000.00 . Mitchell Tibsh1,any presented a bid on behalf of the Syrian Lebanon American Society, Columbia, S. Carolina for the 1960 Convention city. He stated it would be a Host City Convention. The Columbia Hotel and the Wade Hampton Hotel would each guarantee 250 rooms. He estimated 6oo-8oo registration. Ackels moved a committee be appointed to investigate the facilities of Columbia. Seconded by Nader. Zwan moved that Anton~ at the expense of the Federation,go to Columbia to inspect its facilities. 0 Antone expressed the opinion the conventio~ site should be shifted to spread influences. He doubted however that Columbia could handle a large crowd. Ackels suggested New Orleans on a Federated sponsored basis. Manziel said it should be a large city. Nader stated New Orleans would be the best choice but t· a decision not be made at present. Chainnan Antone set a 90 day limit to make a choice of a convention site . Tibshrany stated Columbia would accept mid winter conference. Zwan asked him to let the Board know if Columbia would take convention on Federated sponored basis. Joseph Campbell asked Board to set an amount to be deposited to the Reserved Fund-Board agreed on $3,000.00. Charity Committee will be allocated $500 .00 . Ackels moved that the Board meet Labor Day in Tyler . Campbell moved that the Herald be paid on a 11-0 Rata basis-Seconded by Nader. It was agreed and decided that the printing of. the Bulletin would be left to the President and would be set up in Houston. _ ,_,___ Reggie recommended a new bookkeeping systemj That an audit be done and report furnished to all Board members by Sept. 1. The President would also present at that time an annual budget. Reggie asked that credentials be issued to all delegates and cards be turned in at the convention to determine those present. Ackel suggested that delegates be seated separatel~ Reggie asked that special ribbons be given all delegates. Ackels moved that special credential committee be set up for delegates and special seating arrangements be made. Seconded by Solomon. Ashy submitted a bid for mid winter conference in Lafayette. tabled until later. Decision Antone asked for straw vote on publishing constitution as no changes had been made . It was agreed to publish new copies .
