It was their intention to build a fraternal organization that would enable its members to take their rightful place in the civic, social, educational and athletic life of our city and state. • I Ii C 1 1 I I I I I I I I ! I I I I I I I ♦ Later that year, the Amesyr Fraternity became af.filiated with the Southern Federation of Syrian-Lebanon American Clubs. In addition to having the privilege of acting as host to the 1938 Convention, the Amesyr has had the honor of furnishing several state Vice-Presidents and a Federation President. I I :: I I · In 1936, the first state softball tournament was held in conjunction with the Syrian-Lebanon Day celebration. Thanks to the splendid cooperation of the Syrian and Lebanon clubs of Victoria, Houston, Waco, Port Arthur, Austin, and Corpus Chrsti, this annual affair has come to be known as one of the outstanding affairs of its kind in the nation. :: I I I I e I I i e c !I I i ' !
