Nola Romey was lynched by a mob in Lake City, Florida in 1929. However this was not his first encounter with violence. 10 years earlier, in Valdosta, Georgia he was beaten by members of the Ku Klux Klan after serving a jail sentence for violating prohibition bone-dry laws.
